Three Poems
SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S CONCERN
Exercising my right to wait in line,
Idiopathic anger descends upon me.
The nominal present is a cusp, a springboard,
A platform as capricious as Salisbury steak.
A grounder to short sparks unrest and outrage.
A meme-like ladder rope dropped from the moon.
Crotch rockets roasted fancy.
Fancy Danika slamming dope.
Good churn bad churn.
Safety is everyone’s concern.
LONZO’S
Gay as hell.
Gay as fuck.
Top tier gay shit.
I’m pretty sure it’s Lonzo’s.
THAT PITCH IS A STRIKE ALL DAY LONG
Your personal note, handwritten, arrived today,
A lovely expression recorded on fine, scented stationery,
Matching envelope sealed with wax and your monogram.
And delivered by special courier.
It means nothing to me.
Your like on my Instagram, however
Means the world.

There was a guy
Right across the driveway there
Yeah and then

What We Gonna Do
We gonna dedicate this
to
Brand ambassadors and gender reifiers,
Godheads and goatheads,
Pharmacists and field workers,
Expeditionary forces and support wings,
Guilds, clans, cohorts,
Territory managers and iconoclastic hackers,
Contractors and code switchers,
Disney princesses and trust fund seniors,
Eidolons and limnologists.
We gonna listen to multilateralizers
like the
The Crypto Economy
Undersecretary and
A trope teasing meme grabbing ASL interpreter and
A master chocolatier pierced by his own pièce de résistance,
The chief content officer
For things of a must-see nature,
Bagwell The Exceptionist
To discuss the mating habits of slugs.
And then we gonna do so much tax deductible good
People be calling us filthy stinking rich.

The house on Daybust Drive.
The orchard is chaos,
Ladders and boom boxes,
Stackable
washers and dryers,
Monarch butterflies,
Red hot dragonflies,
Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries,
Brown and maroon caterpillars,
Tiny trams on unmapped routes,
Chirping squirrels,
Red tail hawks lacing the sky.
A Mexican family lives next door.
Daughter in college, home for the summer.
Que
pinche cute.
Rocking smile, smart glasses and pretty legs.
Trending good to go.
Hacked my hot spot.
My heart vents.
Here I am!
When you need one
Where’s a celebrity
To convince you to love me?

Something for Everyone

GRISAILLE
Authorities interrogating a text.
Just breathe.
Where they want you to come in.
And how about you sit there.
So they can triage you.
I was wondering.
Every time he’d ask
Howz yer multimodality going?
We’d all fucking die laughing.
Do your practices run parallel, or do you work across
disciplines?
Then a legit big time punch right to the grille.
THE NATURAL ORDER OF THINGS
Said they would send me an email.
And I kept not getting it.
And I kept not getting it.
And I kept not getting it.
They didn’t return my calls.
I told my daughter hey.
You know?
All stops are brief.
A NOMNAL PRESENT
To prevent further deadly misunderstandings
As
well as black mold on our radio buttons:
Hate comments (disagreements) will be deleted.
Misinformation (other points of view) will be blocked.
Threats (“You’re wrong”) will be reported to the
authorities.
Tones shall be pitched to a six-year-old’s Christmas.

No, but OK
Priest

I
think she thinks
Streaming will make you whole.
Own now.
Watch instantly.
Everybody’s like huh?
I’m
all wow.
They
need to like hire
Someone
from outside,
A Mexican
nai nai,
Projecting passion, strength and
power,
Chonklas
at every command
post,
And geared towards consistently
breaking barriers
When it comes to equality, social
justice, and mental health.
I mean me personally
I’ve tasted heaven, $119.50 per dose.
I’ve been stuck at spicy level #3
For the past five and a half weeks.
Everything is yeah maybe,
But
it’s possible it’s the opposite, too.
I mean what is today?

A humid afternoon in the summer
Some music:
Pete Jolly was a stylist presence in the L.A. jazz scene
from that 1950’s early 1960’s hot spot. This new YouTube post is a fantastic document.
And my today’s Head Light post:

The More You Get from the Internet, the More You Get from Life
I hit the blogosphere hard this morning
Like a Serena Williams backhand,
Like homeport when an aircraft carrier returns,
To, as they say, drive home a point,
Like you drive home a nail.
Cocktail conversation used to be real estate and traffic,
Container shipping and
logistics.
Then, it was real estate and the pet trainer on cable.
Now, it’s real estate and must-see TV and vaccines.
Spoiler alerts, trigger warnings.
To keep
reading, you must register.
Proof
of vaccination is required to register.
You
must be up-to-date on all boosters
And have been tested within the past two days.
Masks
must be worn at all times.

from Entries: L.A. Log, by Eloise Klein Healy

coiling out to Malibu
on a copper strand
my sunglasses shine
like two westbound storefronts
open to the scenery business.

I note the traffic patterns
of two Western Gulls
flying the Santa Monica Freeway,
sooty boomerangs
arching across their backs
as they exit up.
from Dividing the Fields by Eloise Klein Healy
Plants would get most answers right
if left to themselves.
And that moon tonight,
you watch it.
That moon and those trees
have worked together dividing things
since they were girls.
from The Committed, by Viet Thanh Nguyen
“We all become accustomed to the aroma of our own
contradictions.”
from Wind in a Box, by Terrance Hayes
“Nights of inviolate wine and laughter, mornings with a
finch opera outside our windows.”
from an interview with Meridel Le Sueur
Question: You don't write much about love—romance. Is that because
that's bourgeois?
Meridel Le Sueur: Yes, it's bourgeois. I was trying to get
away from bourgeois ideologies of sex, of romance and the family…

“Be just like her. No appointment. No nothing. Come in here
all late and wrong and want something fancy.”
