Something for Everyone

drawing by Beatrice Wood

GRISAILLE

Authorities interrogating a text.
Just breathe.
Where they want you to come in.
And how about you sit there.
So they can triage you.
I was wondering.
Every time he’d ask
Howz yer multimodality going?
We’d all fucking die laughing.
Do your practices run parallel, or do you work across disciplines?
Then a legit big time punch right to the grille.

THE NATURAL ORDER OF THINGS

Said they would send me an email.
And I kept not getting it.
And I kept not getting it.
And I kept not getting it.
They didn’t return my calls.
I told my daughter hey.
You know?
All stops are brief.

A NOMNAL PRESENT

  1. Grisaille I had to look up "painting in grey monochrome". Not sure I follow the title with the poem. I don't get the last line.

The Natural Order of Things: Amusing. I blank on the last line.

The Normal Present: I don't get the "black mold" and the last line, but the between lines has some relevance.

  2. Thanks for your comments. "Grisaille" is an attempt at recreating a conversation. The last line in "Natural Order" was to say life's too short. "Normal" probably veered into the political lane, dangerously so.

    1. Grisalle, and Natural Order, ahhh...I see it.

Normal should veer into the political lane...come on, man don't doubt or equivocate.

    2. A random person told me that the other day as well. "Just do it, sir" he said. "Just do it."
